FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the SkillBuilder Workshop
What language are the sessions conducted in?
The sessions are conducted in English. The goal is for students to use English in real-life situations and gradually become more confident communicators in a natural way.
What level of English is required to participate?
The program requires a near-intermediate level of English that allows students to understand instructions, follow tasks, and actively participate.
A formal language certificate is not required.
Will there be presentations during the program?
Yes. As part of the program, students prepare and deliver short presentations of approximately one minute.
It is important to note that these presentations are prepared step by step together during the sessions. The goal is not to measure performance, but to allow students to practice speaking and presenting in front of others in a safe, supportive environment and at their own pace.
What if a student feels nervous about speaking?
This is completely natural. Presentation tasks are introduced gradually, with plenty of practice, preparation, and feedback.
The focus is on helping students understand their own responses and build confidence step by step.
How are the tasks structured?
Most activities are done in pairs or small groups. This encourages cooperation, reduces stress, and allows students to practice before speaking in front of a larger audience.
Is this more of a communication program or an English program?
SkillBuilder is a skill-development and communication program conducted in an English-language environment.
English is a tool — the focus is on self-expression, thinking, and confident communication.
Is a mixed age group a problem?
No. Students aged 15–18 participate together, which experience shows to be particularly beneficial, as students can learn from one another and tasks are adapted to skill level rather than age.
Where do the sessions take place?
The sessions are held in central Budapest, near Astoria:
1075 Budapest, Károly krt. 3/a., 4th floor.
The classes take place in an official classroom, with a waiting area and a buffet available.
What happens if I cannot attend a session?
This is not a problem. Most sessions are not strictly sequential, so missing an occasional session does not prevent continued participation.
Naturally, attending more sessions supports more effective development, but occasional absences are not an obstacle.
Is it recommended to arrive earlier?
Yes. Arriving a few minutes before the start is recommended to allow time to settle in and mentally prepare for the session.
Do students need to bring anything to the sessions?
No prior preparation is required.
A notebook and pen may be useful for taking notes, but this is optional. Participation and practice do not require note-taking.
For the AI-related sessions in weeks 6–7, the use of a computer or laptop is required. As activities are mostly done in pairs, one device per two students is sufficient.
Students are encouraged to bring their own laptop if possible; however, devices will also be provided, so this will not be a barrier to participation.
What kind of environment are the sessions held in?
The sessions take place in a structured yet supportive environment where students can feel safe and comfortably practice communication and presentation skills.
Do the instructors speak Hungarian as well?
Yes. The sessions are led by Hungarian and native English-speaking instructors.
The native English-speaking instructors also understand and speak Hungarian, so support can be provided in Hungarian if needed.
This ensures that students develop in an English-language environment while always having access to clear explanations and support.
